Our Relationship with Project Hope
Our Club in Tustin partners with a year-round alternative education site established by the Orange County Department of Education that provides schooling for youth that are homeless, live in motels, shelters, cars, garages, or youth that have unstable housing situations. Project HOPE School provides many of these youth with their first consistent school experience.
Every afternoon from 1:00 to 5:00 Project HOPE students are transported by our vans to our Club to take part in our programs. This is a crucial time of the day as their parents are either working or attempting to find employment, and if not for our outreach these children would be going home with little or no supervision or wandering the streets in unsafe communities. At the Boys & Girls Club, they are able to receive academic assistance through our Power Hour homework help program, take part in fitness, health, and nutrition activities, receive valuable life-skills programs, and have fun just "being a kid”.
